Astana Kazakhstan

Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan and the second largest city in the country. Astana is a beautiful modern city of innovative architecture, its skyline is developing quickly with contemporary designs from Norman Foster and the likes. The most characteristic feature about Astana are its futuristic buildings. The Bayterek Tower is Astana major attraction and it is a symbol of the new status of the young capital of Kazakhstan. The top of the complex structure is a gilt sphere crowning a mythological tree of 97 meters. From the top it is possible to see much of the newly built city. Some other impressive buildings worth seeing are the Ministry of finance building, the Ministry of transport building, the KazMunaiGas, and the Prospect of the Republic. Built to resemble a mosque, The President's Museum of Kazakhstan contains exhibitions about the history of the country. Located just outside the city we find the Akmolinsk Camp of Female Traitors to the Motherland, now an interesting museum dedicated to the memory of the victims of totalitarianism. Astana is still developing so it does not offer a vast array of sights and attractions yet, but the city is catching up fast and developing a colorful skyline that grows more fantastical by the year.
