Auroville India

10 kilometers from the famous colonial city of Pondicherry, in the state of Tamil Nadu, rises Auroville, a "population" that proclaims a coexistence free of nations and identities, where everyone can live as citizens of the world. A curious way of life fostered in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa, known as "The Mother" and disciple of the wise Sri Aurobindo. Approved as a project by Unesco itself, this "city of dawn" is deployed in the form of a large mandala whose center shines in the form of the Matrimandir (or Temple of the Mother), considered as the core of the community and home to the largest glass sphere in the world. A meditation room that serves as a nexus to inhabitants who live between tropical gardens and up to more than 100 villages spread over a radius of 20 kilometers. This promotes non-authoritarian education, an ecological consideration defined by Sri Aurobindo's so-called comprehensive yoga and donations from around the world. So far, nearly 2000 adults and 500 children live together in the population.
